This is a brief report on the summer camp of SGF & NSSP Jr. Glider Club.
Why do we do the bungee catapult? Clearly, to use a tug airplane or winch is an effortless way…
However, it’s very difficult for junior high school and high-school students to squeeze out their allowance for the glider trainings although they can start their training legally at the age of 14. It’s too expensive in Japan. So how to make it? The bungee catapult is a solution. As an age-old way, it was not easy to revive the bungee catapult. The collaboration of NSSP and SGF staffs did make it. Also, I really admire the power of network of “airplane freaks” who support this project. Many people got together to show and convey their great zeal and will power for realization to the youth dreaming to fly in the big sky.
I thought that the SGF & NSSP Jr. Glider Club is the only one doing such an old style training. But I know now that it’s recognized as significant even from abroad. My previous work “GAPA Take Off” has been introduced at the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) website and so many non-Japanese airplane freaks visited my site. This time, I added some texts in English so that non-Japanese people can understand more on the contents of my work. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you.
